LARGE RAKU VASE

DESCRIPTION

This vase is fired by the raku method - taking it out of the kiln when it is very hot (about 1845 degrees), putting it into flammable materials, and then depriving it of oxygen by various methods of covering it.

This causes reduction to occur, which emphasizes the lines in the crackle glaze to be darker, adding more interest to the piece. This vase is almost 8 1/2 inches tall and ~5 inches in diameter at the base.
